The role
We’re seeking an experienced and commercially astute Centre Manager to lead Sunshine Plaza — the Sunshine Coast’s dominant retail asset and a cornerstone of the region’s growth. Located in Maroochydore, the designated Principal Regional Activity Centre, Sunshine Plaza is a 106,600sqm super-regional shopping centre servicing both a growing residential population and a strong tourism market.
The centre comprises over 300 retailers, anchored by David Jones, Myer, Big W, Target, Kmart, Coles, and Woolworths. A major redevelopment in 2019 introduced a high-end fashion and lifestyle precinct featuring UNIQLO, H&M, and Sephora, reinforcing the centre’s position as a premier destination for retail, dining, and entertainment. Uniquely integrated with the Cornmeal Creek waterway, Sunshine Plaza delivers a relaxed yet dynamic experience in a true coastal setting.
What you will be doing
As Centre Manager, you’ll be responsible for the strategic, operational, and financial performance of Sunshine Plaza. You will lead a high-performing team and collaborate across leasing, marketing, operations, and development to unlock long-term value for the asset.
Leadership & Culture
- Lead and develop a high-performing, values-driven Centre Management Team.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and commercial focus.
- Build capability within the team through coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
Financial & Asset Performance
- Deliver the annual Business Plan and Base Asset Plan, achieving income, expenditure, and capital targets.
- Identify and implement strategies to optimise rental income, reduce abatement, and minimise vacancy risk.
- Provide strategic input into tenancy planning and remixing, in partnership with the Leasing and Portfolio teams.
- Leverage performance data and customer insights to inform decision-making and identify growth opportunities.
Customer, Retailer & Community Engagement
- Champion a customer-first mindset across all centre operations and experiences.
- Build strong, proactive relationships with key retailers, customers, and the broader community.
- Represent the centre with local stakeholders, including council, tourism bodies, and community organisations, to enhance the asset’s local relevance and reputation.
Risk, Compliance & ESG
- Ensure the centre operates in line with all safety, compliance, and risk management requirements.
- Act as Chief Warden and lead emergency preparedness and response for the asset.
- Support delivery of ESG targets by embedding sustainable practices and engaging stakeholders in energy, waste, and climate resilience initiatives.
What makes you stand out
To succeed in this role, you will have a proven track record as a Centre Manager delivering sustainable revenue and profit growth within shopping centres, or be an experienced Senior Retail Manager ready to step into a Centre Management position.
You will demonstrate experience in developing and leading high-performing teams, along with outstanding interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Given the financial responsibility of this position, a high level of financial aptitude and commercial acumen is essential, coupled with the ability to manage long-term sales and profit growth.
