The role
GPT is currently looking for a Senior Retail Manager to lead the retail branch of the Centre Management team at the iconic Melbourne Central. Bringing together more than 300 retailers over five levels, Melbourne Central is a diverse shopping, dining and entertainment destination, in the heart of Melbourne.
Reporting to the Centre General Manager, this role is focused on meeting asset objectives and delivering optimum investment return. This is achieved through maintaining effective relationships with our retail tenants, monitoring and analysing budgets to manage the asset’s financial performance and continually looking for ways to capture new income opportunities.
What you will be doing
- Managing and developing the Retail team members, providing leadership and guidance to ensure activities are prioritised and diligently and efficiently completed
- Establishing solid relationships with retailers to understand market conditions, fluctuations in their business and ensure a proactive response to their needs and develop and implement a Retail Engagement Strategy
- Ensuring retailer onboarding process is seamless and key dates are met in line with income expectations and help drive refurbishments
- Overseeing the forecasting and reporting including abatements, surrenders, turnover rent and other income and actively manage and communicate operational issues affecting retailer performance
- Monitoring lease compliance, ensuring delivery of retailer standards and proactively monitor the debtors’ situation to ensure that any critical retailers are identified early and managed.
What makes you stand out
A tertiary educated professional, with experience in a centre management role combined with well-honed negotiation skills and a proven ability to lead and develop a small team. You will have a strong understanding of the Retail industry and the Retail Leases Act, coupled with the ability to develop and deliver business strategies in an innovative and dynamic way that results in strong centre performance across all key business indicators.
You are an individual that has a high level of financial understanding and commercial acumen and are able to identify key priorities and develop the timelines needed to achieve these goals.
You will also need exceptional communication skills and be able to present to, engage with and build effective working relationships with all stakeholders alike.
This role would suit a leader with a strong understanding of the retail sector who is customer driven and passionate about continually improving results.
