The role
Due to a recent promotion, we are now looking for a General Manager – Mall Space & Media to take a leadership role within our Retail team.
This role will lead the strategy and commercial delivery of GPT’s existing non-core revenue streams (mall space, pop-up and media) across the retail portfolio, creating compelling propositions that serve tenants, shoppers and employees while driving sustained income growth.
What you will be doing
- Defining and driving long-term vision and annual strategy — both national and local — to optimise existing revenue and unlock new income opportunities across Casual Leasing, Vacant Shops, Media, Sponsorship and Contracted Income.
- Leading, developing and growing the Mall Space & Media team — setting clear targets and KPIs, fostering a high-performance culture and delivering a best-in-class B2B experience for clients and partners.
- Leading the development of sales tools, technology platforms, reporting frameworks and customer data insights to track performance and support sustained revenue growth.
- Leading the end-to-end management of GPT's owned digital media network — with full P&L responsibility across the media team, sales platforms, data and insights and media partnership revenue, with a focus on growth
- Leading commercial negotiations for national mall space and media partnerships, overseeing contract renewals, new business formats and key strategic relationships to maximise commercial returns.
- Owning the portfolio budgeting and forecasting across all New Revenue income lines — including Casual Leasing, Vacant Shops, Media, Sponsorship and Contracted Income, proactively identifying revenue risks and opportunities and translating them into strategic projects that protect and grow revenue.
- Ensuring operational excellence across the function — maintaining compliant, current processes, rigorous debt management practices, and embedding commercial opportunities into retail development and capital projects.
What makes you stand out
The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in commercial and retail property, with a strong understanding of the retail market and a proven ability to formulate and deliver on strategy, research and development.
They will demonstrate strong financial acumen, with close attention to detail and accountability in budget planning, management and financial forecasting, alongside commercial astuteness and the ability to identify and target opportunities.
A natural leader, they will have the ability to motivate and inspire teams to perform at a sustained optimal level, while communicating effectively at all levels to build professional and productive relationships with tenants, customers, key stakeholders and colleagues alike.
Strong influencing and negotiation skills are essential, as is the ability to represent and promote GPT in the marketplace as an innovator in the property sphere.
This role would suit a solutions-focused individual, who will bring a creative mindset that enables them to think differently and drive meaningful commercial outcomes.
