The role
We have a 12mth contract opportunity for a Senior Compliance Officer to support the effective operation of GPT’s compliance frameworks. In this role, you will contribute to the implementation, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance of compliance processes across the Group, assisting in identifying and tracking compliance obligations, supporting incident management activities, and contributing to regular compliance monitoring and reporting.
You will help maintain compliance registers, conduct compliance reviews, and prepare reports, while working as part of a high-performing legal, risk, governance, and compliance team. This role will see you contribute to embedding strong compliance practices across the Group.
Reporting to the Senior Compliance Manager, this position offers exposure to a broad range of compliance areas, including regulatory obligations, policy governance, incident management, monitoring and assurance, and emerging regulatory developments.
What you will be doing
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of compliance frameworks and policies that are aligned with Australian regulation and recognised as best practice
- Support the identification, assessment, and monitoring of key regulatory and compliance risks, including but not limited to privacy, AFS licensing, real estate licensing
- Support with compliance controls assurance processes
- Help identify key areas for compliance related improvements
- Support for GPT’s risk and compliance frameworks through the use of an enterprise risk management system, such as Protecht
- Assist with planning and coordinating the Compliance Plan review and audit and provide support for other internal and external audits across the GPT Group
- Support projects and contribute to broader risk and compliance initiatives by supporting the adoption of new tools and methodologies
- Monitoring third-party service providers where key services are outsourced, which includes anti-money laundering, registry, property management and information technology services
- Preparation of regulatory submissions, reporting obligations and AFS licensing requirements
- Carrying out reviews including, complaints monitoring and investigation of potential incidents and compliance breaches
What makes you stand out
You bring at least five years of compliance experience, preferably within financial services. While qualifications in law, business, commerce, or a related discipline are advantageous, they are not essential. You will support compliance management frameworks through the effective use of enterprise risk management systems, with experience in Protecht and Workiva considered a plus.
You are highly organised, able to prioritise and multitask effectively, and consistently meet deadlines. You take a proactive approach, pay close attention to detail, and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, building positive relationships with stakeholders. You demonstrate a high level of professionalism and commercial awareness, and you are flexible and adaptable when responding to changing priorities.
Simplify complex information to provide clear, concise advice and direction. You work well independently and as part of a team, and you are willing to roll up your sleeves to get things done.
